Draa-Tafilalet Region’s Administrative Framework
Draa-Tafilalet (in Amazigh: ⵜⴰⵎⵏⴰⴹⵜ ⵏ ⴹⵕⴰ – ⵜⴰⴼⵉⵍⴰⵍⵜ, and in arabic: تافيلالت درعة) is one of Morocco’s twelve Regions (new regional division – decree no. 40.15.2 of February 20, 2015). Errachidia, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Zagora, and Midelt are all part of it.
The regional council is made up of members with a deliberative voice who were elected by direct universal suffrage, as well as members with a consultative voice who are made up of members of parliament from the region, presidents of professional chambers, and a member mandated by each of the unions represented in the chamber of councilors.
The region is divided into several provinces or prefectures. They are local authorities governed by public law with legal personality and financial autonomy. Each province is made up of several urban and rural communes.
Municipalities are administratively recognized agglomerations.
Each of these has a geographic code, just like any commune or the urban centers of rural communes. Their population, added to that of urban centers, is used to determine the urban population during each national census.
