Disconnect from the daily grind. Escape for a few hours or the day - to refresh and connect with yourself. Take a camel ride and walk around green and colorful oases. You will like it in the middle of magnificent kasbahs while on a bike. Try the delight of skating on the sand. Climb if like the beauty of the gorges, and you are into altitude experiences. Come recharge your batteries, in the middle of nature, as well as the immensity and authenticity of the Draa-Tafilalet region.
If going for a walk is a pleasurable activity, the greatest escapes are those in which you take the time to enjoy the natural surroundings. So, if you want to entirely “disconnect,” here are 5 things that will allow you to thoroughly enjoy the present moment and soak in the scenery around you.
Donkey or camel ride
Come trot, listen, gallop, and blend in on our green oases and yellow dunes.
If you wish to explore the area differently, donkey and horseback rides are available in most of the region’s must-see sites. You will learn about the fauna and flora of the oases, while your children and you will enjoy a magnificent walk. Have a delightful mint tea at the friendly guesthouses and share a meal with a local family can be arranged.
Nothing beats a stunning camel ride (rather a dromedary ride) to explore different sceneries during your stay in Draa-Tafilalet. Hike into the Moroccan desert and enjoy the panoramic views of the dunes.
Quad and buggy thrills
It doesn’t matter whether you are on a quad or a buggy! On the tracks or sand circuits, you will experience incredible sensations. Fasten your seatbelts and go for it!
Make the most of overwhelming sensations and breathtaking scenery. Travel across the vast desert and driving in natural settings. “Enjoy the trip!”!
Mountain biking treks
Mountain bikes are the best way to discover the region’s treasures.
Take a long walk through the oases of Ferkla, Skoura, or Fint, or along the oueds in the Valley of Roses and oasis of Ziz. The most adventurous can take on the lunar routes that lead to the Tizgui waterfalls, the tumultuous paths of the Tatiouine valley, or even the Ighil Mgoun piedmont from the Rose Valley.
Several 4X4 trips are available to get you to the most distant regions. Choose your path and discover the most unusual locations, far from the crowds of the regular path. For example, from M’Hamid El Ghizlane, you may cross the dunes of Erg Chgaga, bivouac, and then carry on a safari to Iriqui Park. Otherwise, use the route that connects the Dades and Todgha Gorges.
Up in the air
Traveling across the Todgha valley in a hot air balloon is possible and highly recommended. It is a magical and wonderful adventure. For a few minutes, you will be overwhelmed with emotions and 360-degree views that extend to the High Atlas and the start of the desert. The trip takes around an hour on average, up to 25 kilometers at a height of more than 500 meters! You will be able to observe and photograph the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you.
During treks and trips, you can participate in a variety of sports and activities, some of which are uncommon! Climbing in the Dades and Todgha gorges, hunting on the High Atlas plateaus, Alpine skiing in Jbel Ayachi, or flying in the Merzouga dunes. It is even possible to Sandboard or Ski Dune in Erg Chgaga, hurtling down hundreds of meters of dunes at high speed. Quieter activities, such as trout fishing in lakes and hydraulic dams, will appeal to the less adventurous.
